Last Shot
Last Shot
This is a simple and short game I made for the Shovel Jam 2025. The theme for this Jam was "Just get started". For a deeper understanding of the game's theme implementation and the context of your mission, dive into the story below.
Game story
You’re a failure in life, having accomplished nothing of value. Because of this you’ve been in a downward spiral, getting in contact with the wrong people. After another failure and losing them a lot of money, you’re now on the run. Scared of losing your life.
Your only option to save yourself is to participate in the army selection process and join the army. You have no time to prepare, no time to read any explanation on what you can expect. This is your last shot. Make it count. Just get started, or disappear.
Gameplay
There are 3 levels you have to complete one after the other. To proceed to the next level, you must shoot all targets before the timer expires.
Don't waste your bullets either, because without them, it's also game over, and you'll have to restart the level.
Controls
- Movement: WASD
- Aim/Look: Mouse
- Shoot: Left Mouse Button
- Aim Down Sights (ADS): Right Mouse Button
- Pause Menu: Press ESC once (for Windows build). For the web version, press ESC twice to open the Pause Menu.
Itch.io Update
This is not a game update! The game itself has not been changed!
There was an issue on Itch.io where the game wasn't shown in full screen, making the timer and scores half or not visible for some people. So I ticked the scroll bar option on Itch.io so you can scroll down and make it full screen
This doesn't seem to be an issue for everybody, but this should fix it for now.
Download
Install instructions
- Web: just click Launch on the Itch.io page
- Windows: download the zip-file, unzip and click on the Last Shot.exe file to launch the game.
If the web version doesn't work, I recommend downloading the Windows version. I have tested the Windows version myself, and everything works as intended.

Not bad for three months of total game dev experience! There's a lot of delay with the shooting and I couldn't make it past level 2 sadly... The idea is great though!
Great job man, hope to see you improve! <3
Thanks! Yeah, Level 2 is really difficult, should've toned the difficulty down a bit. Level 3 is easier, but I ended up deciding not to switch them after all.
Should probably get someone to playtest next time. I know the bullet hit takes longer at range due to bullet speed, but I didn’t notice the shooting delay at all.
Dude I literally went through this. I had my partner test the game and had to fundamentally change the combat with 3 hours left in the jam lol
